Care that fits around your shifts
Police officers give South Africa their days, nights, weekends and public holidays. We admire that, and we know your time off is precious. Sitting in a waiting room for a sore throat, a flu or a repeat script shouldn't eat into it.
With VDOC, you see a doctor from wherever you are: at home, on a break or before a shift. Most consults take 10 to 15 minutes. You care for our people's safety. We'll care for your health, so you can get better and get back to work.
Quick consults
No travelling, no queue. A focused video consult and you're on your way.
Sick notes & scripts
A medical certificate if you're unfit for duty, and scripts sent to your pharmacy.
For your family too
Registered dependants on your POLMED membership can book as well.
POLMED options we bill
POLMED is the medical scheme for South African Police Service members and pensioners. We claim GP video consults from both POLMED options.
How we claim from POLMED
Book your consult
Choose a GP, date and time online or on WhatsApp.
Select Medical Aid
At checkout, choose Medical Aid and confirm the patient's SA ID number.
We check and submit
We check your POLMED benefits and submit the claim to POLMED for you. There's no paperwork on your side.
You're confirmed
Once the claim is submitted, your appointment is confirmed. If POLMED doesn't pay, we'll ask you to pay by card.
What a POLMED GP consult includes
We bill POLMED for general practitioner (GP) video consultations. In one consult, your VDOC doctor can:
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses such as colds, flu, infections and minor injuries
- Review chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and asthma, and issue repeat scripts
- Issue an online prescription for your pharmacy
- Issue an online sick note if you're unfit for duty
- Refer you for blood tests, X-rays, scans or a specialist
Scripts and certificates are issued at the doctor's clinical discretion. Scheduled medication, such as sleeping tablets or ADHD medication, is not guaranteed. A video consult is not for emergencies: if you're injured on duty or seriously ill, go to your nearest emergency unit or call 10177.
Who can claim
Only the principal member or a registered dependant can be billed. The patient's name and SA ID number must match POLMED's membership records. You'll confirm this in a short declaration when you submit your claim.
